FOCUS Newsletter: Fall 2025
Dear Friends of Epiphany,
Each year I reflect with you on the many wonderful happenings that occur because of the generosity of others for the benefit of women and children. This fall, our FOCUS newsletter highlights meaningful moments — a historic visit from our Superioress General Sister Françoise Petite and Sister Julie Kubasak, a tribute to Sister “Fran”, our alumni reunion, and a powerful story of recovery.
On the front page of this issue you read of the visit of Sister Françoise to Epiphany Center. It was the first visit of our Superioress General to Epiphany Center in my eight years here so it was very exciting, a true privilege and honor for me personally, but also for our women with whom Sister had lunch. She is a Social Worker, so she appreciated all the wonderful work you make possible.
Celebrating Sister Fran (December 19, 1939 – August 19, 2025)
We celebrate the life of Sister Frances “Fran” Kearney (Sister Thomas Joseph), who devoted more than six decades to faith, education, and compassionate service as a Sister of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. She was 85 and had recently marked 64 years of religious profession. Sister Fran’s laughter, kindness, and unwavering love left a lasting imprint on everyone she met, and her legacy of compassion and service is featured in the latest issue of FOCUS.
Stronger Together: Our Alumni Reunion
This October, our Women’s Recovery Alumni Reunion was more than a gathering — it was a celebration of strength, sisterhood, and transformation. Our reunions offer a moment to reflect on how far these women have come — from their first steps of vulnerability to the confidence and peace that come with living in freedom.
In Sierra's Words -, “If there’s one thing recovery has taught me, it’s this: life can change the moment your than your fear.”
Sierra shares how her willingness—through surrender, change, and daily showing up—transformed her from a struggling teen into a sober mother, wife, and case manager helping others rebuild their lives.
As our country gives thanks, I thank God for you as it is only because of you we are able to change and save lives as we do. “What you do for the least of these, you do for Me.”
God bless you and those you love,
Sister Betty Marie Dunkel, D.C.
