18th Annual Celebrating Mothers Luncheon Honors Recovery, Resilience, and Family

Center: - Dr. Melinda Lawlor Skrade (President), Sister Francis Meyer, D.O.C(Main Office Assistant) and the wonderful staff of Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory

On Tuesday, May 6th, the Epiphany Center community gathered at the beautiful St. Francis Yacht Club for the 18th Annual Celebrating Mothers Luncheon—an inspiring afternoon honoring the women who shape our lives while raising critical funds to support women and children in recovery.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the San Francisco Bay, the luncheon brought together supporters, volunteers, sponsors, and friends to celebrate the strength of mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, and caregivers while uplifting families on their journey toward healing and stability.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of attendees, sponsors, donors, and community partners, this year’s luncheon raised more than $110,000 in support of Epiphany Center’s programs serving vulnerable women and children. A portion of these proceeds will directly support our current Fund-A-Need initiative: the restoration and renewal of Epiphany’s Step-Down Transitional Housing (learn more). This essential program creates safe, stable spaces where women and children can rebuild their lives and continue their recovery journeys.

Guests enjoyed a champagne reception, gourmet lunch, orchid garden sale, and online silent auction, all in support of Epiphany Center’s mission to help women recover, reunify with their children, and build healthy futures for their families.

The event also highlighted the incredible resilience of the women served by Epiphany Center each year. With the support of our community, Epiphany continues to provide essential services for more than 375 vulnerable families annually, helping women heal, strengthen family bonds, and create lasting change for future generations.

One of the most moving moments of the afternoon was a powerful testimonial shared by an Epiphany graduate, who courageously spoke about her journey through childhood trauma, addiction, recovery, motherhood, and ultimately transformation. Her story was a moving reminder of the life-changing impact of compassionate support, community, and opportunity. You can read excerpts from her inspiring remarks here.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Luncheon Chairs Nan Bouton and Brenda Maclean for their leadership, dedication, and thoughtful planning in making this year’s event such a meaningful success. We’re also incredibly grateful to Matt Callahan, who once again energized the room during the Fund-A-Need appeal, inspiring many to raise their hands—and their hearts—in support.

We are also deeply grateful to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and members of the Epiphany League whose generosity makes this work possible. Your support ensures Epiphany Center can continue its 175-year mission of ensuring vulnerable women and children receive the care, resources, and community they need to heal and thrive. From all of us at Epiphany Center, thank you for celebrating the power of recovery, the strength of mothers, and the hope of new beginnings.
