It’s Officially OPEN!

April 11, 2019

Epiphany Center held a beautiful blessing, dedication, and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, March 29th to mark the "almost ready for play" opening of our new play yard, Nellie's Play Space. The season's rain had delayed the pouring of our kiddo trike path and soft play area BUT....It was a still a wonderful day of celebration! Today our tots officially cut the ribbon for PLAY! "...AND got on their trikes, ran to the slide, and grabbed their pails and headed to inaugurate the play yard!

The play yard is named after Nellie Murphy, the first child cared for by the Daughters of Charity when they came to California from Maryland in 1852. The play space is dedicated to all of the children, past, present, and future cared for by Mount St. Joseph, St. Elizabeth Infant Hospital and Epiphany Center.

Our little ones are now enjoying their new space that features an interactive play structure, tot garden, sand box, trike path, lots of room to run around, and a safety surface play area. The tots have the freedom to explore and play from running around to digging, making sand creations, climbing, jumping or playing with friends! A bright and colorful wall mural transforms the space with its vibrant, aquatic and tropical images of gorgeous plants, colorful fish, and happy humming birds designed and created by faculty and students of Academy of Art University.  We hope you will stop by and play with us!

We gratefully thank the Low Income Investment Fund for making this project possible and ALL our donors and contributors who helped to make our vision a reality.
