Staff Spotlight: Welcome Back Carla Graham, Program Director

Carla Graham, Program Director speaks with Epiphany staff in the dining hall.

We are so excited that you have returned to Epiphany Center as our Program Director! What have you been up to since you were with the agency a handful of years ago?

After leaving Epiphany center I explored other educational opportunities. I had a desire to follow in my mothers’ footsteps and become a nurse, however after 1 ½ years of nursing school I realized nursing was not my calling. After leaving nursing school I returned to residential recovery working with PRC Baker Places in San Francisco. My plan was to always return to Epiphany, I just thought it would be working with Melissa in the Pediatric Clinic as a nurse.

  1. What brought you back specifically to Epiphany?

I returned to Epiphany because I missed working here. I missed the relationships I developed with staff. I missed working with the women and children, I missed being a part of the vehicle that help to drive the women to being their better selves.  From Melissa in the Pediatric Clinic to Dr. Linda in Family Treatment, Epiphany’s dedication to the community, and its genuine compassion for the clients is what makes the agency stand out from the rest.  Every staff member at Epiphany Center works cohesively to provide the clients and their children with a safe environment where they can focus on healing and recovery.

  1. How do you feel now that you are back at Epiphany? My first weeks have been emotional, I missed this place more than I thought. My time so far has been a good mix of catching up with old staff, meeting new staff and finding where my experiences and skills are most useful.

  1. What inspires you about your work with the women? I am inspired by being an example of “it is possible”.

Often, we can get discouraged thinking that it is too late or too much to change, but it is not. Belief and strength that we draw from our spiritual selves, makes it is possible. I am inspired to help them through that change, no matter how hard it seems.

  1. What is your favorite value to practice at Epiphany Center? Simplicity is my favorite value. To act with integrity, clarity, and honesty. Integrity is the practice of being honest, consistent, and having strong moral and ethical principles and values. When these characteristics are modeled with our clients, it helps them with developing integrity in their behaviors.

Carla, we couldn’t be more excited that you’re back at Epiphany Center! Thank you for your dedication to guiding our women and children on their healing journeys.
