In Her Words: Veronica’s Story

I came to Epiphany on December 28, 2015, in the pouring rain, and seven months pregnant. I came to the Center with nothing. I remember feeling I had nothing to live for.

Before coming to Epiphany, I was living in Marin and homeless. In San Rafael, I had gone to St Vincent’s food kitchen. A woman named Rita from Catholic Charities – I call her my guardian angel -- had seen me and gave me her card. She recommended I contact Epiphany Center.

After coming to Epiphany, I had my baby Jesse. There, with the help of the staff, I developed strong parenting skills through the Family Treatment Center. I cannot say enough positive things about them. Dr. Linda and Tracy were and continue to be huge advocates for me. Today, Jesse meets weekly with Tracy for family therapy. Both of my sons continue to visit Melissa and Dr. Clem at Epiphany’s Pediatric Clinic.

At Epiphany, I learned the value of helping others, showing up, and being accountable.

I learned to let go of outcomes and that somedays, success is staying sober.

And I was recently hired by Epiphany as a full-fledged case manager! I’m so excited to be back helping women like me to remember their worth and that they can accomplish anything. Epiphany believed in me! They hired me! That shows a lot for the program. If you had told me six years ago when I walked through Epiphany’s doors soaking wet and hopeless that I would be where I am today, I would never have believed you.

Epiphany gave me the strength to fight to get my life back. Epiphany’s staff embraced me and loved me with all my faults and strengths. And I am forever grateful!

Thank you to all the Center’s supporters for your belief in women like me, women who want a better life for themselves and their children.

Help us continue to uplift women like Veronica.
