Longtime Epiphany Center Executive Director Sister Estela Morales says farewell after 28 years

December 4, 2017

On December 1, Sister Estela Morales walked out of Epiphany Center’s executive office one last time.

For the more than a quarter century, she had been a beloved fixture at the agency overseeing programs and services for San Francisco’s most vulnerable women and children. She began working for Epiphany Center in 1989 and had been the Executive Director since 2008.

Epiphany Center’s clients, staff and community have been blessed by her remarkable leadership, wisdom and humor. “The commitment to compassion at the agency is palpable when you walk in the door. I feel fortunate to be part of it,” says Dr. Linda Perez, PhD, Director of Epiphany Center’s Family Treatment Center.

Devoted to the agency’s mission to be guided by the community it serves, Sister Estela paved the way for multiple agency accomplishments. From the establishment of the Parent-Child Center and In-Home Services, to the women’s new computer lab and the impending expansion to become a comprehensive detox and recovery campus, she has steadily adapted the agency’s programs to meet the changing needs of San Francisco’s marginalized women and children.

Epiphany Center is losing an outstanding leader, a loyal friend, a mentor and a true inspiration who has given her life to the service of God.
