Happy International Women’s Day!
March 8, 2015
Today we're celebrating International Women's Day with a shout out to our fearless female founders, the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.
Just over 162 years ago, seven Sisters traveled from Maryland to San Francisco where they founded Mount St. Joseph St. Elizabeth, now called Epiphany Center, to care for the city’s orphans during the cholera epidemic. Today, the agency continues to embrace the hurt, the lost, and the lonely, providing at-risk women and their children with the opportunity to build positive, hopeful futures.
